Explain :
EPDM is a polymer of ethylene, propylene and a small amount of non-conjugated dienes. Its main chain is saturated carbon chain, and there are unsaturated double bonds in the side chain. Therefore, its heat resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance and stability are excellent. EPDM is essentially non-polar, so it has resistance to polar solutions such as alcohol, ketone, ethylene glycol and phosphatide hydraulic oils, low water absorption and good insulation properties. Generally used temperature range: 50 C - 150 C.
Chemical Structure :
Similar to NBR, but with higher saturation
Advantage :
1. It has good weather resistance and ozone resistance.
2. It has excellent water resistance and chemical resistance.
3. Alcohols and ketones can be used.
4. Steaming oxygen at high temperature and good impermeability to oxygen.
Disadvantages :
It is not recommended to be used in food and transportation or to be exposed to aromatic hydrogen
Purpose :
1. Seals for high temperature steam environment.
2. Seals or parts of sanitary equipment.
3. Rubber parts in brake system.
4. Seals in radiator (automobile water tank).
5. Outdoor protective jacket.
